Flashback Friday - Halloween

Here's a look back at Halloween over the years!  Happy Halloween ya'll! :)

My Awesome Halloween

My Halloween Weekend was super fantastic this year!  I started it off with a little costume shopping with my Little on Friday night.

After the shopping extravaganza, we went back to my house to watch "scary" movies, which turned into us watching Batman Begins because she chickened out on the scary movie, but still has excellent taste in cinema. :)

Saturday morning, I was up bright and early (and bundled up!) for the Hot Cocoa race with Brooke!  We decided to allow ourselves to be inspired by Jem and the Holograms and sprung for some neon wigs the night before.  We may have been two of the very VERY few people that dressed up, but the wigs kept our heads warm and everyone gave us lots of compliments.  Worth it!

Saturday, after a nice warm shower, Jess came over so we could watch Paranormal Activity 1 and 2, we'll be watching 3 soon.  I was so excited when I found the trilogy at Walmart for $15!
Nick and Emily were in town, so we met up with them and Nick's fam to watch the ISU game (good game!) at a bar in Davenport.  I did have to get my costume on prior to this meet-up, so I felt a little silly while we were there.  Luckily, I could take my fangs out!

Later that evening, we headed to Nicole's husbands last concert, which was unfortunately outdoors, so we only stuck it out for about and hour and a half before we headed home, nearly frozen to death!

Oh yes, I was indeed the only one in costume.  Lame.  Oh well!  I had fun anyway :)

The final thing that made my Halloween quite spectacular was participating in the Redditgifts Trick or Treat Exchange.  Simply put, this was a world-wide secret santa for Halloween.  I was matched with someone in Texas, so I sent him a gift based on his likes/dislikes, and then someone in Ohio was matched with me, and I got a super fantastic gift.  Check out my loot!

I hope your Halloween was equally as awesome!

Happy Halloween (and Engagement!)

Halloween weekend is always a magical weekend.  It's always full of fun, and friends...and sometimes even love...and running?! :)

This weekend, we had some out-of-town visitors come stay with us and we had a great time.  It was so wonderful having friends that were able to come celebrate this fun holiday and partake in the weekend's events!
Friday started with some last minute errands and cleaning and then dinner at Old Chicago with my mom, dad, and Emily.  We had a great dinner, wonderful conversations, and lots of laughs.  I always forget to take pictures in those moments, but it was fun.  Around 10:30, Laura and Jason showed up!  The boys went to the bar, but Laura and I stayed in because of the race in the morning.  She introduced me to the show New Girl, it was so cute and funny! I'm glad I'm jumping on the bandwagon early, I'm already all caught up :)
How I wasn't watching this show when it first started, I'm not sure, because I absolutely love Zooey Deschanel!  Shortly after midnight, we went to bed.  Early morning ahead of us!
Saturday came and with a 7:00 wake-up call, the whirlwind of events began.  Laura and I got our running clothes on, ate some breakfast, and joined Emily R (I really did type "D" first, it's hard remembering you're an "R" now!) over to Moline for the Cocoa Beano 5K.  We met up with my friend Jess, my mom and her friend Becky, my sister (the other Emily), and Stephanie and her mother.

This race was so much fun, we all agreed we'd love to do it again next year and maybe be joined by some others?  I'm looking at you Brooke and Ashley F!  We were handed chocolates at the end, followed by a banana to enjoy, some water, and the best hot chocolate any of us had ever had.  I beat my last 5K time and wasn't far behind my friends, winning.
We cleaned up, had lunch at the BierStube, went our separate ways for the afternoon to get some rest and what not and got ready for our Halloween Party!
People started arriving a little after 6:00, bringing snacks to munch on and drinks to enjoy!  We all got into costume and had some laughs and took some pictures.  We spent the first part of the evening at our house partying, eating, and drinking, and then we went to the bar, where Brooke was able to meet up with us.  It was a great evening, despite having thought I lost my phone, which I found in the morning...silly me.

End of the night!
On Sunday morning, I woke up, cleaned up, and made some Pumpkin Pancakes, yum!  We said goodbye to Laura and Jason and The Reed's and I went back to bed for a nap/movie watching.  In that time, I received a picture message followed by a phone call!
Oh my goodness, Brooke got engaged!!!  I could not express my excitement enough for this highly anticipated event!  What a wonderful way to start my Sunday and end my weekend. I can't wait to celebrate with her and Ryan, I am just so happy for them.
Happy Halloween everyone, enjoying your tricking and treating today! :D

Halloween Weekend

Twas the weekend before my surgery, and all Sarah wanted to do was have fun!  So we did :) We started the weekend off with a night in Des Moines with Nick & Emily.  Love these crazy kids! ;) We played Sequence and Hearts, had some drinks and ate Emily's yummy snacks.  We also watched The Descent...my first time seeing it, FREAKY! Here are some pics from our night in DM.

My drink of the night...of course

In the morning, we headed to Omaha where we stayed with Ashely and Andy!  We went to lunch at Wheatfields, where everything on the menu looked to die for.  We all got great food.  My burger was the size of my head and Andy's meal was served on a cutting board!

My yummy cheeseburger

Then Ashley and I went shopping and found some cute clothes for her engagements pictures this coming weekend! When we got home, I had Ashley and Andy open their special surprise.  Enjoy the reenactment photos :)

We finished off the day with a costume party/bar adventure.  I didn't end up drinking much because of the upcoming surgery.  But it worked out because I got to drive us home and we blasted the home intruder song on the way home with the windows down! "Hide yo kids hide yo wife" Good times!

Geez Favre, no one wants to see your junk!
I am truly in love with Ashley's stache
Sunday was pretty chill, we made some snacks for football and Ashley and I ended up napping before Ryan and I had to head home.  It was a great weekend and great way to keep my mind off of surgery.
