Day 19- Nicknames you have and why you have them

I don't have any nicknames that all my friends use, because there's not a lot you can do with Sarah...it's pretty basic. But here are a few that specific people have used:

Mrs. Hackbarth- OK, yes we are married...so it makes sense, but I received the nickname from our friends BEFORE we were married. They would always refer to the two of us as "the Hackbarths" or me specifically as "Mrs. Hackbarth"...good thing it worked out I guess! ;)

SarahLee- This one is definitely specific to one person. My friend Laura has called me SarahLee since high school and I always call her Scheetzy-baby (a play on her last name). I know we are getting older, and this might be a little childish, but I love it and I'm pretty sure we'll always use them as we grow old!

Sar-sar- Again, specific to one person. My friend Kelly and I were being goofy freshman year of college and I started calling her Kel-kel so she started calling me Sar-sar. And yes, we still use it when we call or text.

Pumpkin- I probably share this nickname with LOTS of little babies. But this is what my family called me when I was a baby/toddler, and I'm sure I'll call my baby someday the same thing. :)

Day 18- Plans/dreams/goals you have

Plans: In the short-term, I plan to apply for a new job working for the government. I plan to pay off debt as soon as possible. I plan to live each day fully, in case it's my last. I plan to love my husband unconditionally and I plan to share my love with my friends and family. In the long term, I plan to go to grad-school for elementary education. I plan to teach when the time is right. I plan to have a family with my husband. I plan to support all of my friends with their upcoming weddings these next couple years. I plan to enjoy watching my little brother grow up and my little sister graduate college. And I plan to travel as much as I can.

Dreams: I guess in a sense, a lot of my plans are also my dreams that I insist on making a reality. I guess the big dream is to be able to travel to all of the places I want to go, but of course, that might be a financial and logistic challenge.

Goals: Pay off student loans before they are due. Meet my weight loss goal by May 14th (Alli's wedding). If I don't meet it by May 14th, my goal is to not give up and keep working towards it. Volunteer more.

Day 17- Someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why

Wow, truly a difficult decision. Because here's the thing...I would love to switch lives with someone who is overseas and experience things I've never done or seen before. But what a tease that would be, to spend ONE day doing and seeing those things, and then poof: back to reality. And then I think about how wishing to switch lives with someone is really just saying you aren't happy with your own life...but that's definitely not true! I wake up everyday and try to remember to count my blessings. I don't want to be that person who doesn't realize how good she has it.

I have the world's best husband, a nice apartment, food in the cupboards, clothes in the closet, my wonderful family only ten minutes away, and the greatest friends I could ask for! The biggest thing I feel like I am lacking in my life right now is a better relationship with God; I've just been so angry. So it's just one day right? I'm not wishing to switch lives with someone forever, just experiencing one day in their shoes. So for one day, I would like to swap lives with a nun. I would like to know how it feels to be that close to God and to know it's OK to put your trust in Him. Maybe that one day would help boost my confidence and get me motivated about improving my own spiritual relationship.

I will say that I do feel lucky to know that I have been blessed and that in the future, when I'm done being angry with God, He will be there for me again.

Day 15- Put you ipod on shuffle: first 10 songs that play

Since I don't have an iPod that has been updated with songs for about 3 years...I am just using Ryan's iTunes since he downloads music for me to! I have a "Sarah" section...so I'll put that on shuffle:

Day 14- A picture of you and your family

Sunday Special - Emily H

My sister Emily is a wonderful person and I feel so blessed she is my sister. She is my younger sister, but in many ways, I look up to her. She is, and always has been, very strong, physically AND emotionally. She is smart and driven, and tries hard to tackle her goals.

Emily is studying to be a nurse, which I WISH I had the nerves to do, but blech! But I think it's awesome and admirable and I am so proud of everything she has accomplished.

I don't have any old pictures on my computer, so these are all pretty recent ones. But in a way, these pictures represent the year that we have been closer than ever. Each year goes by and I feel like my sister is more and more my best friend than anything. But of course, we're family, so put us together for too long and the bickering starts! But it's worth it, because I have more fun with her than I ever could have imagined when we were both still living at home, and I love her. So no matter the rough times we go through, or friends we lose, we are always sisters and will always be there for each other. I love you Emily!

Day 13- The last picture you took on your camera.

Ok, Day 13 is supposed to be "a letter to someone who has hurt you recently," but even if someone has hurt me, I'm not going to put it out in public to be read by everyone else. That's not cool! Soooo...who doesn't like more pictures?

So the very last picture I took on my camera was on my way to dinner last night with my family up in Waterloo. My cousin Jonah and I were just goofin' off. =)

Day 12- How you found out about blogger and why you have one

I was a day behind, so Day 11 and 12 are both coming today!

This one is easy...I already knew about blogger from friends in the past who had created blogs when they moved away or studied abroad. I never really thought about doing one for myself until I was getting married. BUT of course, I didn't actually get around to creating the blog until months later. I owe it's start to Ashley M because she had recently started a blog, which I loved, and it finally gave me the motivation to create one. And I must say, I absolutely should have started this sooner. Blogging is very relaxing, and therapeutic, and fun!

I hope that I keep up with this, because I think the best part about having the blog is being able to look back. I hope that many years from now, I can look back at my wedding posts, or my weekend recaps, and it will help me remember how I felt at that time in my life.
