The Quad Cities Hot Air Balloon Fest took place last weekend and my mom and I decided to go check it out. We got to the fairground before 7:00 in the morning only to find out that the wind wasn't cooperating and they would be taking off from somewhere northeast of Colona. OK...how the heck do we find that? We ended up getting in our car, driving towards Colona and just happened to see a trailer with a basket (for the balloon) on it! "Follow that balloon!" We weaved around some country roads and ended up at this farm. Not all of the balloons could take off at this location, but we were up close and personal for 5 of them. It was loads of fun, totally random, and I'd definitely do it again! :)
