Book of the Month - Jane Eyre and The Help

If you read my New Year's Resolutions, you may have noticed I vowed to read one book per month.  Well, this month is not over yet, but it almost is and I already know I will not have complete a whole book.  However, I am about halfway through TWO books, so it pretty much evens out, right?
On the kindle this month, we have Jane Eyre.  What took me so long to read this book?!  I guess it always seemed boring, but I've loved most other classics I've read, and I'm so glad I have finally delved into this one!  It's wonderful so far.
As for book number two, I have not completed converted to Kindle usage yet and have many physical books that I still want to read.  Mostly because I spent the money on those darn things and they are currently taking up space on my bookshelf!!  My bookshelf is full of mysterious stories and characters that I am finally ready to discover.  So in my hands this month is The Help.  I am refusing to see the movie until I finish the book.  I love love LOVE the book so far, it does not disappoint!
I have a couple books that I want to read this year, but nothing is set in stone and I am always looking for suggetions!  What is the best book you've read in the past year?

  2. i don't know if you like post-apocalyptic feminist sci-fi (yes i'm serious.), but anything by margaret atwood is amazing. i recommend the handmaid's tale, oryx and crake and the sequel, the year of the flood. they can be a bit dark but they're very enjoyable, and fascinating. they're not overwhelmingly sci-fi, definitely subtle.

  3. I'm reading The Girl with Dragon Tattoo right now! Its pretty good, I haven't gotten to the more intense part yet though, I have heard it is gory, so I will keep you posted! BUT, have you read The Glass Castle? If not you MUST! Also Magical Thinking is another favorite!
